Hydro has endorsed the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the Global Compact and the ILO conventions and thereby pledged, among other things, to support the right of employees to organize themselves and to not accept child labor.
"It's rare that we disagree with the other board members and management, but when it happens, it is often regarding issues that are particularly important for the employees. Then we use our influence," says Billy Fredagsvik.
The statistics every year show that the trend is moving in the right direction. Yet in 2010, Hydro failed to reduce the number of accidents.
